Set Your Computer To Check and Receive Updates

Author: Buildacomputerguide.com Editors

If you are running Windows, you can set your computer to check and receive notifications and get updates automatically. To setup automatic Windows updating, follow these instructions in Windows XP:

  1. Start > Control Panel
  2. Click on Security Center
  3. Under 'Manage security settings for:' select Automatic Updates
  4. Select the 'Automatic' option, and define your scheduling preference
  5. Click Apply and then you can exit

Other versions of Windows, such as Windows Vista have a similar update function that can be scheduled. We recommend doing this to make sure your computer has the latest security and performance updates that Microsoft has to offer.
